Gracie Harcombe

Lead Mental Health Practitioner

Hi, I am Gracie, and I lead the Mental Health Practitioners at Anxend. I studied psychology at university, and I have a diploma in health and social care.

I have worked in roles and teams supporting and caring for children, the elderly, and disabled people. With children, my role focused on enabling them to acknowledge their self-worth.

My goal is to make a positive change for those suffering from anxiety disorders and low self-confidence. This became important to me after I experienced my own battles with anxiety and the journey I took to rebuild my own self-confidence. It is not easy to figure out how to deal with the negative lens of social media and the feelings it produces for so many, it makes us feel inadequate and insecure in ourselves. It's also not easy to face our own inner challenges and develop the resilience that every child requires.

The Anxend team is full of relatable people with many of us having experienced anxiety ourselves or in our families with our own children. Working with them, I want to prevent children from struggling the way I did, to give them a way out, and to inspire them to live their best lives.

In my own time, you can find me out on the moor, at the beach, or with my animals. I have always loved animals, as they give me a sense of comfort and calmness.

My role at Anxend:

My role is to guide support and equip children and young people giving them the skills and tools they need to build their self-esteem and their resilience against anxiety disorders.

I help the children gain an understanding of anxiety and the anatomy involved in an anxiety disorder. I also help children develop confidence and to recognise their own strengths and abilities to be able to handle scary and stressful situations.

I also support the Mental Health Practitioners who come to work for us, making sure that the process is as smooth for the families as possible.

Our end goal is that the children and family rebuild a positive and happy household where the whole family have their lives back.
