Lara Slyce

Mental Health Practitioner

Hi there, I’m Lara!

I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2022 with a Joint Scottish MA in Philosophy and Psychology. I am passionate about mental health advocacy and young people. I am adept at emotion regulation coaching, building relationships and active listening. I have previous experience in care work with adults, very closely supporting children and teenagers within a SEND department in school and coordinating the training process at Edinburgh Nightline - a listening support service for students- and four years of experience supporting callers myself. I have had periods of my life where I was struggling with severe anxiety. I believe no one should struggle alone, and equipping children with accessible, reliable protective tools early on should be an essential part of education. I am ADHD and have a particular interest and lots of experience supporting neurodivergent children. Alongside my work with Anxend, I work in various community support roles with young people; I am a Mental Health First Aider, I volunteer at my local homeless shelter, and I plan to train as a psychotherapist. Outside work, I enjoy cycling, writing, painting, going to the cinema with my partner, and learning Japanese.
