Question from a concerned parent
“How do I balance revision, homework, interventions (compulsory) & free time when I’m so overwhelmed with trying to revise and give myself free time because I end up not recurring and feeling trash because I don’t even though I should revise.”
Answer from Anxend experts
That is a good question. It sounds like you are in a stressful situation. Remember that you are not alone. Others in your class will be feeling the same. Well done for asking for help.
Have you spoken to your school and family or a trusted adult about how you feel? Has anyone been able to give you any advice? Letting your parents and teachers know how you are feeling and what you are struggling with, is an important first step in getting help to stop feeling overwhelmed. They should also be able to help you with study skills and generally help you with your learning.
It is important to be kind to yourself. There is only so much that anyone can fit into a day. If you do too much, in the long run, it is as bad as doing too little, because you will become tired, loose concentration and become inefficient. It is often better to timetable short periods of work without distraction, especially from electronic devices, where you can concentrate and then have a rest and perhaps move around or go for a short walk, before going back to study more.
Remember to look after your physical needs like food and sleep as well. This includes giving yourself time to meet friends and enjoy yourself. Starting your work early in the term should mean that there is much less to do nearer exam time than if you have to do it all at the end. A little, often, is best.
